There were monks who would sleep in their coffins as a reminder of death. Living with the reality of our finite nomadic journey in the gift of today causes the heart to be thankful for what we have.

Recalling to mind Final Judgement of every word, deed, and the display of what is in each heart is a good way to cause healthy pause in daily choices.
