This is such a simple lesson from Thay...yet it is strangely difficult to follow. I'm turning more and more towards simplicity. Every day, notice something beautiful, and every day be part of an exchange of kindness. It can be on the giving end or the receiving end...so long as you notice that kindness has been exchanged.

This is so well said, Susie. I think you’re right about simplicity and taking notice of beauty and kindness around us. Noticing it allows us to be part of it too.

You have a gift of using a simple idea, digging deeper into that idea and presenting people with different sides, faucets, points of view: thank you. It’s always thought provoking… and I’ve missed reading your posts

Eckhart Tolle once said, “You cannot receive what you don't give. Overflow determines inflow. Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you already have, but unless you allow it to flow out, you won't even know that you have it. This includes abundance”

Another way to look at this is "You can't give away something you don't have". That includes love for yourself and kindness toward yourself.

Thanks for your message, Joel. It was a good way to start my morning!

I’m so glad to hear that, Jayne :) and you’re 100% right - I specifically had parenting in mind as I wrote this, because how I treat my family is when it becomes more obvious that I haven’t taken care of myself. Makes it all that much more important!
